Hazel Fay Thomison was the daughter of William Arthur David Ross and Lillie Mae Garrison Ross. She was married to Rev. J.W. Thomison for 65 years. Together they served several churches in Oklahoma and Texas. She was a very talented seamstress and a great cook but she especially loved following her Texas Rangers Baseball Team. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren had a special place in her heart. She was lovingly known as “Mema” or “Sister T” by everyone who knew her.
A friend wanted JW to meet Hazel, but he was very reluctant. His friends were not easily dismissed and finally they arranged a meeting. JW was so captivated by Hazel, that when he and his friends were leaving, he said, “I’m going to marry that girl.” Yes!!! It was truly love at first sight. They were married just a short time later.
This marriage license was very special. It marked the beginning of an incredible journey. Hazel and JW were married on January 1st just after midnight. It was a wonderful celebration of the new year and of their new life together. Hazel’s twin sister Eva and her brother Harmon were witnesses. The pastor who performed the ceremony was Rev Riggs, a minister who influenced the entire Thomison family.
